1/2 cup extra strength vanilla flavored coffee
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
Several ice cubes
Whipped cream (optional)
First things first. Brew some double strength coffee. I only make a single serving at a time so I use about 3 tablespoon of Starbucks Vanilla coffee grinds with 3/4 of a cup of water. If you do not have the vanilla coffee, you could always use a regular blend and just add some vanilla extract. I'd say about a teaspoon is enough.
While the coffee is brewing, pour approximately two tablespoons of chocolate syrup into the bottom of a glass. You can use more or less depending on your own personal preference. I tend to like mine a little bit sweeter. That is also why I always use Hershey's chocolate syrup.
Pour 1/2 cup of coffee into the cup with the chocolate syrup. Stir it up! It is easier to get the chocolate stirred in well if you do it before you add the cold ingredients. Or at least that has been my experience.
Pour in one cup of milk and stir well once again. You may want to taste it at this point. If you want it to be a bit sweeter, stir in some more chocolate syrup. If it doesn't have enough coffee flavor, mix in the little bit that is left in the pot.
Make sure that your glass is tall enough so that you can add the ice without having it spill! I like for my mochas to be very cold so I use 7-8 cubes of ice.
Last but not least, top your mocha with whipped cream and another drizzle of chocolate if desired. Enjoy the mocha wonderfulness!
