Hi all and thanks for visiting my blog!
My name is Emma and I am 21 years old. Some of my interests include crocheting, cooking, playing piano, singing, spending time with friends and family, writing, learning, and making natural household items. Just some background information about myself... I am originally from Kansas which is where I spent the first nineteen years of my life living on a little farm with my parents' and my siblings (I have ten). I was homeschooled all the way through until I started college at age fifteen. I also became a Christian at the age of fifteen which obviously was a major turning point in my life. That was when I really started looking for Christ and trying to live my life for Him. When I was sixteen, I got my first real job as a cashier at a local fast food restaurant. While working there, I met the amazing man who is now my husband (sounds romantic, right?). I even remember the first thing that he ever said to me. "Hey, Emma. What are you doing?" ... I was restocking the little salsa containers under the cash register counter and that was pretty clear. It should have been obvious to me that he was trying to start a conversation but being the girl I was, I didn't even think about it. I just answered the question and kept on doing what I was doing. Yes. I was rather oblivious. We didn't start "dating" until about six months after that. At which point I was no longer working at the fast food restaurant since I had been offered a part-time job at the community college bookstore in town which I was attending at the time. Talk about a step up! Seyonara, fast food job! Working in the bookstore was perfect for a nerdy girl like me. I loved every second of it. Well almost.
Anyway, my husband and I got engaged in November of 2011 while we were visiting his brother who was stationed at MCAS Cherry Point near Havelock, NC. It was the night before Thanksgiving and we were watching The Andy Griffith show together. That show now holds a very special place in my heart. :) The wedding took place the following June. After a wonderful five-day honeymoon in Colorado Springs, we moved to Emporia where we both attended Emporia State University for a year. I was majoring in Elementary Education and he in Secondary Education with his emphasis in history. In February of 2013, my dear hubby made the decision to go into the Marine Corps. We both went and talked to a recruiter on February 14th (Yep. On Valentine's Day) and he shipped out for boot camp within six weeks. That was a very difficult time for me but I will let you read about that on my first few blog posts.
I have been married to my husband, Cameron, for almost two years now. Our anniversary is in June. Yay! Being a Marine's wife was something that I never imagined myself being. I've never been known for being strong or managing well all alone so as you may guess, I have had to make some major adjustments and have had to overcome many obstacles to get to where I am today. My husband and I now live in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Moving so far away from home was definitely a little bit scary at first and we still haven't made very many friends but we feel like God does have a purpose for bringing us here. We know he does. We just have to wait to figure out what that purpose is. We both enjoy living here. It is beautiful and having a beach close by is a luxury that we have both really come to appreciate.
When this blog first began, it was almost like a journal to me. I poured out my heart onto the pages that I figured nobody would ever read. Now, I am hoping that my experiences can be of at least some encouragement to other women. That is why I have moved my original blog to a new site. Thanks again for viewing my blog and feel free to contact me. I love to get in touch with new people. :)
